Tree Maintenance - Every 2-3 years Pepco performs maintenance trimming to remove tree growth that could interfere with our lines. Maintenance trimming does not include the removal of large overhanging branches, nor does it include removal of dead branches outside the trim zone. The DC Department of Transportation/Urban Forestry Administration has the full authority to manage tree maintenance in public space. Line Maintenance - This is such a broad topic that specific "line" questions are required to fully address your concerns.
Check Grounding - Ground testing is only performed in response to voltage type complaints or for the design phase for new construction. Grounds are not normally tested "during" construction. However, if during the process of construction or maintenance work the crews notice poor connections, missing ground wires and/or grounds that do not meet current specifications; these conditions are addressed at that time.

PCB health impact - The manufacture of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB's) was outlawed in the United States by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1977. As a result of this change in the law, Pepco removed and/or replaced equipment that did not comply with environmental standards.

Improvement Schedule for feeders 15011 and 15015 - These two feeders are not targeted for remediation in 2007, thus no improvement schedule is available.
Will rate increases be passed onto residents as a result of improvement? Residents will not be charged directly for these improvements to feeder 15197. Maintenance costs are covered under current distribution rates approved by the DC Public Service Commission (PSC).
On December 12, 2006, Pepco asked the DC PSC to authorize an increase in electricity distribution rates, the first delivery rate increase in more than a decade. If approved, the change would add about 7.79 percent to monthly residential electric bills. The new delivery rate should, under the Commission's policy, become effective in September 2007.
Replacement of transformers -Specifically in the meeting of December 6, a question was raised regarding transformer replacement along Allison Street, NW. During the period from 1981 through 1989, portions of feeders were converted from a 4kV to a 13kV distribution system in order to meet increasing demand for power. This action necessitated the installation and upgrading of overhead wires and transformers along 16th Street and along Allison Street.
