If you'd like to see some of the many ways US Presidents have interacted with our beloved Rock Creek Park, a video of Crestwood Citizens Association Historian David Swerdloff's February 2018 multi-media presentation for Rock Creek Conservancy is now posted on YouTube.
The talk touches on dozens of Presidents...and why we might not have had a park at all if the White House hadn't been such an awful place to live. The presentation - which sprang from research for David's book Rock Creek Park A to Z - can be found at: https://youtu.be/v4tqYJafdNE
Within the talk, there is a video that didn't load. The film shows Teddy Roosevelt and his party being carried across a stream in Kenya...in contrast to the legendary tales of him skinny-dipping in Rock Creek.
I guess he didn't have to worry about crocodiles in our park! In any case, click here to see that video: https://youtu.be/BXNujqrbYXA
